The key and the door
Two products, one journey. The MAOI capsule — harmala beta-carbolines, the same alkaloids that carry traditional ayahuasca — is taken fifteen to twenty minutes first. It reversibly inhibits the gut enzyme MAO-A so that the oral DMT capsule taken after it becomes active.
On its own, swallowed DMT is inactive because MAO-A in the gut and liver destroys it before it reaches the brain. The MAOI turns the key. It is also the source of every serious drug and diet rule on this route, which is why the two are sold and explained strictly as a pair.

01Why oral DMT needs a key
MAO-A in the gut wall and liver destroys swallowed DMT before it reaches the brain — under one percent survives. The harmala MAOI reversibly inhibits that enzyme, so the DMT can cross into circulation and the long arc can open.
02The harmala alkaloids
Harmine, harmaline and tetrahydroharmine are the same beta-carbolines that the caapi vine contributes to traditional ayahuasca. Being reversible (RIMA), they carry a somewhat softer interaction profile than irreversible MAOIs — but the rules still hold.
03The MAOI safety envelope
The MAOI is the source of every serious danger here: SSRI and SNRI washouts, the stimulant and serotonergic contraindications, and the low-tyramine diet. None of this applies to the vaped freebase — all of it applies to this product.
04The fatal wall
Never pair any MAOI with 5-MeO-DMT — it removes the off-switch and can cause fatal serotonin toxicity. The MAOI here and the 5-MeO vape elsewhere in this family must never meet.
